Wow. I didn’t know they decided conference championships in early October. But it must be so with the SEC, at least according to the backwoods monoliths more commonly known as LSU fans. Yes, the smell of corndogs is extra-thick down here in the bayou, especially after the toothless tigers’ defeat of UGA and Cowbell State. They believe they have it in the bag. The only thing I see in that bag is a bunch of half-eaten Funyuns.

For those of you that have grown up in a locale where the opening of a Super Wal-Mart is a historical event, you should appreciate the character of a small town wedding.

This evening I took a jog around Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans. I was wearing my Auburn Basketball shirt which I purchased at my last Tommy Joe Eagles Basketball camp when I was bout 13 (OK, I was a big boy). After I had finished my run I passed by an old man and his wife on the track. He was 80+ and in a wheelchair, and he seemed to be very weak. He took one glance at me at yelled out “Come on Auburn! You’ve got to do better!”
To say the least.

I picked up a friend today from the Louis Armstrong International Airport here in the Big Easy. He’s been in Virginia all summer; graduated as a yahoo, wazoo…whatever they call themselves. Anyway, after our greetings and a few remarks about how the coon asses drive down here, his first question to me was “Are you going to the USC game?”
“Well hell yeah.”
