Why not start out game week with an old favorite. This article was written before the 2003 season. It's just as relevant today as it was four years ago. See you Saturday. War Eagle!!

I’m trying. Trying to revive the Iron Bowl spirit I felt as a kid. Anyone who grew up in Alabama knows what I’m talking about. Nothing compared to Iron Bowl week. For those of you from Georgia (where I now reside), let me explain. When I was growing up, everyone from Alabama was either a Tiger or a bammer. Literally everyone.

I drove home yesterday afternoon after the fastest beak down in WarDamnTailgate history. I was hoarse, my boxers were wet and I was well on my way to a decent chafing. My poor wife, who understands how “well” I take Auburn losses, was lucky enough to spend the next two and a half hours with me as I periodically convulsed when a memory of Georgia running up the middle for 7 yards assaulted my brain.

I’ll admit it. I’m an SEC snob. With my pinky finger held high in distain, I sipped my Jordan Hare special as I watched Rutgers vs. Louisville last night. Afterwards I watched Sports Center on my way to sleep and finally I listened to sports radio on the way to work this morning. I watched and listened as they touted the Rutgers program and their amazing run. In the words of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog… Yes, yes, the Scarlet Knights have a good run going. A nice run indeed… FOR ME TO POOP ON!!

With all of the election hoopla going on yesterday, I wondered what the SEC would look like if the fans were allowed to vote for the head coachs of their favorite school. One thing is for sure, the turnout would be a lot better than any government election. Should we be proud or ashamed of that? I'm sticking with proud.
Here’s how things would have played out in WDTunnell’s universe for some of the schools in the SEC. Of course in my universe everyone has nicknames…

Finally!!! College football is officially here. After a night of watching games, drinking beer and listening to rock and roll, I have a few things to say about College football’s opening night.
Some of the other websites promise fact, I promise fodder. Oh sure, you’ll find a taste of fact mixed in there, but it’s the corn to my crawfish. You’ll only use it to cool your lips off.

Stupid question if you are actually bothering to read my stuff. But I had to ask. As I get my hands used to writing about Auburn football after a long off season, I thought I would warm up with some observations (some obvious and some obscure).

My article last week was full of shameless promotion of a Bama loss to LSU.
Well, looks like for once I got what I wanted... but was it what Auburn needed?
Let me tell you how I really feel.

"I follow sports for the love of my team and the hatred of our rivals" - Tunnell Vision. On the way to work I was thinking about the AU vs GA game and the UA vs LSU game. Steak Shapiro mentioned the term "sport hate" in passing. I then realized there was a difference between my "sport hate" of Georgia and my "man hate" of Alabama. I’m on the shrink's couch for this session of Tunnell Vision and we’re going to dig into the difference between friendly sport hate and deep seeded man hate...

What an odd question to be asking about a 5-1 team ranked 15th in the country. But I’m asking it. Because I don’t have that feeling in my gut. The one that lets me know we have a solid football team. I would love to be certain that we have a good football team, but I can’t base such a feeling on 5 wins against sub par opponents. I need some more information to make an Auburn Educated Guess.
So let’s take a look to the facts!!!

It's been over 8 months since game has been played. I know some of you won't be able to make it to the game in person. So I figured I’d put in a few good words and a few words of wisdom for drinking while watching Auburn football from home.

In Quinn's absence, I figure I'd rattle off some ideas on how to spend the last weekend before we all head to the plains of Auburn and watch our boys get some redemption from GA Tech.

Did I need another reason to dislike the NBA?
The answer is no. I had a veritable plethora of reasons prior to this weekend. This sacred weekend of Auburn vs. Alabama, Florida vs. Florida State, Oklahoma vs. Baylor... oh wait a minute...

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Bammer fans that year,
The season was six and four, with but one home game left to cheer.

If math and college football had a love child, it would be the BCS. This is their distant cousin, twice removed that drinks too much a Christmas. I call it...
BY THE NUMBERS.

This past Thursday I had the pleasure of roaming the corridors of Cary Hall. Home of WarDamnTailgate.com and all things science.
My first thought when I walked through the doors was “Man, it smells like a test in here.”

Let your mind drift back to October 1st, 2003. The leaves are about to change, the air is crisp and Auburn football is trying to recover from the mother of all nose-dives.
But not this year my friend.
Not this team.

Al Borges had his work cut out for him as did the Tiger offense. I think we can all agree that this is an understatement. But what I want to shed a little light on is what I think of the fit between the Auburn Tigers and the Gulf Coast offense.
